Terrell Fletcher. Aaron Hayden. Rodney Culver. Leonard Russell. Freddie Bradley. Gary Brown. Kenny Bynum.
Aaron Craver. Erric Pegram. Carwell Gardner. Tremayne Stephens. Jermaine Fazande. Robert Chancey.
Ronney Jenkins. What do these names all have in common? All were running backs on Chargers teams
between Natrone Means (1994) and LaDainian Tomlinson (2001).
Well, it’s way too early to say whether or not it worked, but I can tell you that fans are buzzing about it. The fact is,
we NEED a new park. Now, I love the “Q” just as much as the next fan. In fact, if I calculate it correctly, I have
spent nearly 5% of my (awake) life there, between Chargers, Padres, and Aztecs games, the occasional concert
and the one time I went to see the Monster Trucks. But sadly, the facilities within the bowels of the stadium rival
that of an outhouse in a third-world country.

As the acerbic and autocratic general manager of the San
Diego Chargers, A.J. Smith is a man consumed by his own
power.
Sometimes Smith gets to flex, like he did on the night nearly
two years ago when the coach he detested, Marty
Schottenheimer, was fired by Chargers CEO Dean Spanos
after having led San Diego to a 14-2 record. From that point on,
the Chargers were Smith’s show, and he made sure everybody knew it. On Wednesday, however, Smith
disrespected the wrong dude.
Responding to a relatively benign statement by LaDainian Tomlinson on the star halfback’s website that he has
“NO intentions of leaving San Diego,” Smith brazenly mocked the most beloved player in franchise history.

Rodney Harrison understands what Chargers RB LaDainian
Tomlinson is going through. He has been there.
Harrison spent nine seasons with the Chargers before he was
released. Not that it didn’t work out for Harrison, who went on
to win two Super Bowls as a strong safety for the Patriots. But
now Tomlinson is going through a similar battle.
Tomlinson said he wanted to end his career in San Diego. Chargers general manager A.J. Smith responded the
next day in an unflattering tone.
Harrison, who’s on the NFL Network set this week, was asked about the Tomlinson situation after the Total
Access production meeting.

"I have been getting a lot of messages on my site regarding
me leaving San Diego. I feel that I need to make it very clear
that I have NO intentions of leaving San Diego. San Diego is
nothing but love and the upmost respect for this team, the
players, and the Spanos Family. Me being traded is players,
and the Spanos Family. Me being traded is completely out of
my hands. I have ABSOLUTELY no control in that decision
making. All I can do is wait and see how it all plays out. As for
now, I am a Charger and will be until I am told otherwise... "

PFTV : Is A.J. Smith Asking For Trouble?
Associated Press
SAN DIEGO (AP)—As if the LaDainian Tomlinson-A.J. Smith
spat isn’t enough for San Diego fans to digest, the Chargers
signed a deal with Wasserman Media Group on Monday to
market Southern California’s only NFL team in Los Angeles
and Orange counties.
Any tie-in between the Chargers and Los Angeles always gets
San Diegans wondering if it’s a precursor to the Chargers
moving up the freeway to the nation’s second-biggest market,
which has been without an NFL team since the Raiders and Rams bolted before the 1995 season.
This one isn’t, said attorney Mark Fabiani, who’s been trying since 2002 to get the Chargers a new stadium deal
in San Diego County.

By now I'm sure y'all are tried of hearing about this non-issue; Over-blown
and perpetuated by the media, the idea that Ladainian Tomlinson would not
be a San Diego Charger in 2009 is downright ridiculous if you ask me.
knows that Ladainian Tomlinson is the heart and soul of the Chargers. His
impact, both on and off the field, is immeasurable. LT is one of those unique
players who is the legitimate face of a franchise and one of the most
marketable and recognizable players in the NFL.
In addition to guys like myself, hall of fame safeties with ties to San Diego
also are sticking up for Tomlinson. We've heard from John Lynch, calling the
thought of LT in another uniform "premature and foolish" and now we are

Former NFL player Mike Sullivan was hired as offensive line coach by the San Diego Chargers on Tuesday.
Sullivan played for Tampa Bay for four years and Dallas for one season. He spent the last two seasons as the
assistant offensive line coach in Cleveland.
With the Chargers, he’ll work alongside Hal Hunter in coaching the offensive line.

SAN DIEGO (TICKER)
After being called out by his star linebacker, San Diego
Chargers general manager A.J. Smith contacted LaDainian
Tomlinson to straighten out the comments he made to a local
newspaper.
On Monday, three-time Pro Bowler Shawne Merriman told the
San Diego Union-Tribune the back-and-forth between Smith
and Tomlinson needed to stop.
Merriman was referring to Smith’s comments to the newspaper last week, in which he mocked Tomlinson.
Last week, Tomlinson posted a statement on his personal web site saying he wants to end his career with the
Chargers, who drafted the star running back fifth overall in 2001.
Smith responded by publicly mocking Tomlinson’s statement verbatim the following day.
After Merriman’s comments, Smith called Tomlinson on Monday to clear the air.

LT With Rome
What else do they have in common? None of them ever given
you this list is because I want to point out just exactly what a
HUGE mistake the Chargers would be making if they were to
trade or release LT. Let’s put aside what he’s done for this
franchise, or the city, or the community. I want to exclusively
address what he’s done on the football field. Even in a down
year, where he battled a toe injury which he sustained in Week
1, he still put together a season which none of these other
names could have done even if they had the 1990’s Dallas
Cowboys Offensive Line. He didn’t have the chance to fully
recover from it, because he continued to play, and still rushed
for 1,110 yards.
the NFL. When the Chargers signed a marketing deal earlier this week
with the Wasserman group so they can market to Los Angeles and
Orange Counties, it had one purpose, and one purpose only: To send a
message. They want permission to build a new stadium.

The San Diego Chargers have more needs than many people realize. On
paper, the Bolts look stacked. But looking ahead just a year or two, we find
needs in long-term replacements. They need to replace two starters on the
offensive and defensive lines respectively. They need a starting safety
opposite Eric Weddle. They need depth at both inside linebacker and
outside linebacker. And they need an insurance policy behind Ladainian
Tomlinson.
So what direction will the Chargers go come draft day?
In the first couple of rounds, the Chargers will look to find starting caliber players, primarily defensive
playmakers. They'll certainly have an eye out for any elite offensive tackles on the board, and will also consider a
top running back. But they'll mainly be looking for an impact defensive player.

It’s that time again to start talking about free agency, and we’ll spend some
time breaking down positions, and today we are going to start with maybe
the most important position on the field - quarterback. Here are our rankings
of Free Agent QB’s, and what we think will be the end result for some of
these players.
1. Kurt Warner - Cardinals: The Super Bowl QB is going to be a free man,
but expect the Cardinals to make a more than fair offer to keep Kurt around,
win or lose the big game a week from Sunday. Kurt could have been the MVP
this season without a doubt, and while a couple other teams will likely flirt
with the idea of grabbing him, I can’t see him anywhere else but in the
desert.
